Itinerary

We’ll begin the trip early in the morning by private transport from Cusco. The scenic drive will take us through the Andean mountains, passing through villages. After about four hours, we’ll arrive in Cachora, the starting point for our trek to Choquequirao. Here we’ll meet our team, including the tour guide and muleteers.

Our hike will begin with a gentle ascent, offering panoramic views of the Apurímac Valley. As we continue, we will see the majestic Apurímac River winding through deep canyons. The path will descend steeply to La Playa Rosalina, where we will set up our first camping equipment. A well-deserved rest will prepare us for the next challenging day.

After several hours of climbing, we will reach Marampata, a small Andean settlement with breathtaking views of the mountains. From here, we will continue on a gentler path, gradually approaching the ruin of Choquequirao. As we arrive, the massive stone terraces and temples will come into view.

We will spend the afternoon exploring Choquequirao ruins, learning about their history and significance. After breakfast, we will begin our descent back to Marampata. The steep trail goes downhill, so we must step carefully, but the views of Apurímac Canyon will be amazing. We will rest at Marampata before continuing our descent to La Playa Rosalina.

The last section of the day will take us back to our previous camping equipment site. Here, we will relax by the river and enjoy a well-earned meal. This will be our final night in the wilderness, surrounded by the sounds of nature.
