Itinerary

Rainbow Mountain Tour Peru

We will begin our Rainbow Mountain Tour Peru between 3:30 AM and 3:45 AM. Our driver will pick us up from our hotel. The pickup time may vary depending on our location. We will travel in our private transport toward the southern valley.

The drive to Cusipata will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes. This peaceful town lies at 3,310 meters above sea level. There, we will enjoy a nourishing semi-buffet breakfast. Hot drinks and light local dishes will help us prepare for the Rainbow Mountain hike.

After breakfast, we will continue to the town of Kairawire. This small community stands at 4,700 meters above sea level. We will arrive at around 7:20 AM. Our tour guide will give us instructions and safety tips for the day trip.

We will start the Rainbow Mountain trek with a short local ride. This one to one and a half hour hike will take us close to the summit. The trail from there climbs gently up to the top of the mountain. We may feel the high altitude, so we will walk slowly.

We will arrive at the top of the mountain at around 5,000 meters sea level. This early arrival means fewer tourists and better photo opportunities. The view will showcase natural mineral layers in shades of red, yellow, and green. Snow-capped peaks may appear on the horizon.

At the top, we will rest, take pictures, and enjoy the view. The silence and colors will create an unforgettable experience. Our tour guide will share stories about local traditions and the geology of the mountain. This is the highlight of our Rainbow Mountain 1 day tour.

Afterward, we will hike down to Kairawire along the same path. The descent will take 30 to 45 minutes, depending on our pace. Our minivan will wait for us at the bottom. We will head back to the restaurant in Cusipata for a delicious buffet lunch.

We will enjoy a variety of hot dishes, fresh juices, and local flavors. The rest stop will give us time to relax and rehydrate. After lunch, we will drive back to Cusco. We will reach the city at approximately 4:30 PM and finish our day trip at Plaza Regocijo.

Breathtaking Views and Great Service!
We did the Rainbow Mountain 1 Day Tour with Inka Explorer and it was incredible! Our guide was super informative and made sure we felt safe and prepared for the altitude.
We were among the first to reach the top, so we had the mountain almost to ourselves. The colors were unreal. Highly recommend this experience!
