Itinerary

Day 1Sacred Valley Tour – Train to Aguas Calientes

We will pick you up from the hotel in Cusco between 6:30 and 7:00 AM. Once the group is complete, we will drive north into the Sacred Valley. Our first stop will be Chinchero, a charming town with Inca terraces and a beautiful colonial church. We will watch local artisans demonstrate their traditional textile techniques, from wool washing to weaving colorful patterns.

Next, we will visit Moray, where we will admire massive circular terraces once used for agricultural experiments. These unique formations will reveal the advanced farming knowledge of the Incas. We will then continue to the Maras Salt Mines, a spectacular site with thousands of salt pools carved into the mountainside. The local families still harvest salt here using ancient techniques.

We will head to Urubamba for a buffet lunch, enjoying Andean and international cuisine. After lunch, we will explore the Ollantaytambo Fortress, an impressive Inca site with steep terraces and huge stone walls. This stronghold played a key role in resisting Spanish invasions. We will then walk through the charming cobblestone streets of the town before heading to the train station.

In the afternoon, we will board the train to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu. This scenic journey will take us along the Urubamba River, surrounded by lush green mountains. Upon arrival, we will check in at the hotel in Aguas Calientes and have free time to explore the town or visit the hot springs.

Day 2Visit Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco

We will wake up early and take the CONSETTUR bus to Machu Picchu, a 30-minute scenic drive up the mountains. As we ascend, we will enjoy breathtaking views of lush forests and towering peaks. At the entrance, we will prepare to visit Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Our guide will lead us through this incredible archaeological site, explaining its history and significance. We will explore key areas, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana Stone, and the Royal Quarters. We will also have time to take pictures from the famous viewpoints overlooking the ruins. Those who choose may hike Machu Picchu Mountain for a spectacular panoramic view.

After our guided tour, we will return to Aguas Calientes by bus. We will have free time to explore the town, shop for souvenirs, or enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our private transport will be waiting. We will then drive back to Cusco, arriving at our hotel in the evening.

“Highly recommended for a stress-free Machu Picchu adventure!”
