We will start our adventure early in Cusco, ensuring we make the most of this full-day trip. Our tour guide will pick us up from our hotel, and we will leave the city behind. The journey will take 1 hour and 45 minutes, passing through Andean valleys, enchanting villages, and scenic farmlands.
In Mollepata (2,900 meters above sea level), we will stop for a delicious breakfast at a local restaurant. After eating, we’ll continue our drive toward Soraypampa, the starting point of our hike to Humantay Lake. This scenic route will offer breathtaking views of the towering Andes Mountains.
We will begin the hike to Humantay Lake, covering 3 km in 1:30 to 2 hours. The trail will be steep and reach an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level. We will walk at a steady pace, taking breaks to rest and adjust to the high altitude.
We will reach the lake and admire its turquoise waters reflecting the snow-capped Humantay Mountain (5,473 meters above sea level). The lake’s stunning colors come from glacial minerals, creating a magical scene. Our tour guide will share stories about its Incan significance and how local communities protect this sacred site.
We will begin our return hike, following the same 3 km path back to Soraypampa. The descent will take around 45 minutes to 1 hour. Allowing us to enjoy a different view of the surrounding peaks. Once at Soraypampa, we will rest before continuing our journey.
We’ll proceed to return to Mollepata, where a delicious lunch will be waiting for us. This meal will include local Peruvian dishes prepared with fresh ingredients. We will relax, enjoy the hospitality of the Andean people, and share our experiences with fellow travelers.
We will leave Mollepata and begin the drive back to Cusco, enjoying the last views of the Andean landscape. Our arrival in Cusco will be around 6:00 PM, ending a memorable journey.
